Yemen, EU discuss cooperation ties

SANA'A, Sep. 04 (Saba) - Interior Minister Rashad al-Masri discussed on Saturday with the projects official in the European Union and an EU expert Sidra Cheema cooperation relations Between Yemen and the European Union.

They also reviewed a project of the EU to rehabilitate and develop the Authority ofCivil Status and Registration, particularly ways of updating the authority's system which is important to set up an accurate database contains all the information of Yemeni citizens.

In their meeting, the Yemeni Minister praised the EU support provided to Yemen,particularly its support to the security services in the field of development and modernization, including protection of society and the fight against crime.

For her part, the EU official said that the EU would provide three million euro to support the Authority of Civil Status and Registration, referring to that EU experts are studying the work mechanism of the authority.

The EU official affirmed that the EU is an important partner in the fight against terrorism and piracy.
