Over 1 million tourists visit Yemen in 2009
[30/August/2010]

SANA'A, Aug. 30 (Saba) - Roughly 1.2 million tourists form different nationalities have visited Yemen during 2009, Tourism Promotion Council (TPC) said on Sunday.

The TPC Executive Director Fatima al-Huraibi said that the number of the Yemeni tourists have reached 592,000 people in the same year.

She made reference to a tourism promotion plan the council is working on, saying that the plan aims to improve the Yemeni airports and to prepare joint cooperation plans with a number of airline companies in addition to taking part in international exhibitions or shooting tourist flashes on the Yemeni tourist components via media outlets.

The council is preparing currently for a tourist investment conference expected to be held next December to set up a new strategy for the tourist sector in Yemen, al-Huraibi said.
