FRANCE, July 16 (Saba) – Yemen's representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Khaled al-Akwa'a met on Friday in France with UNESCO director general Ms. Ms Irina Bokova.

During the meeting, al-Akwa'a and Bokova reviewed aspects of cooperation between Yemen and the UNESCO in various programs and activities that are overseen by UNESCO in Yemen.

The Yemeni envoy invited officially Ms. Bokova to pay a visit to Yemen in order to look closely at the ancient cultural heritage of Yemen and its efforts to preserve the Yemeni sites added to the World Heritage List.

Yemen has a number of sites added to the World Heritage List, including the Historic Town of Zabid, the Old City of Sana'a, the Old Walled City of Shibam and Socotra Archipelago.
