SANA'A, June 21 (Saba) - Yemen participates in the International symposium on Fish Trade and Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing to be held the Moroccan city of Agadir.

The symposium is organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) during the period June 22-24.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Fisheries Wealth for production and marketing sector Ghazi Lahmar, Yemen's representative in the symposium, said that a number of Middle East and North Africa countries are to participate in.

The symposium aims to create a unified scientific vision to reduce the phenomenon of IUU for being an environmental crime and threatening fishing sustainability, he said.

The participants will also discuss the possibility of issuing specific certificates on the quality and safety of fish products and the means to enhance the ability of the participating countries to improve fishing management.
