SANA'A, June 20 (Saba) – The 34th meeting of the World Tourism Organization's Committee for the Middle East is to start here on Tuesday, with participation of 12 Arab countries and international organizations.
Minister of Tourism Nabil al-Faqih confirmed that the ministry has completed all preparations and arrangements for convening the meeting, to be attended by the World Tourism Organization's Secretary-General Taleb al-Rifai and the Arab Tourism Organization's Secretary General Bandar al-Fuhaid.
He pointed out that the participants in the two-days meeting would discuss a number of issues and themes concerning the encouragement of Arab-inter tourism and analyzing the performance of markets in 2009 and prospects for 2010 in light of the effects of the global economic crisis.
On another hand the participants would discuss a report on the 4th meeting of the Committee on Tourism Activation and on the first meeting of the initiative of the Group of Twenty (G-20)'s Tourism Ministers ,in addition to a special initiative for the sustainable tourism and eradication of poverty in Yemen, al-Faqih added.
Also the participants would deal with the implementation of the committee's plan for 2010-2011 and the celebration of the World Tourism Day for 2010.
It is scheduled to be on the sideline of the meeting, organized by the Ministry of Tourism in coordination with the World Tourism Organization, opening an exhibition of photos reflecting contents of Yemen tourism.
