CAIRO, April 16 (Saba) -- The Arab league condemned on Friday the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, which led to the deaths and injuries of many Palestinians east of the city, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) has reported.
Israeli practices and disproportionate use of force are breaching simplest human rights and the Fourth Geneva Convention of protecting civilians during wartime, the League's Assistant Secretary General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Lands Affairs Ambassador Mohammad Subeeh told reporters.
Voicing "great" concern over the dangerous Israeli escalation in the Palestinian territories, Subeeh said the attack on Al-Shujaiya neighborhood east of Gaza City coincided with another one in the West Bank, when Israeli troops suppressed peaceful protests condemning settlements, the segregation wall and attacks on mosques and properties in Hawara near Nablus.
Earlier today, a Palestinian activist was killed in fierce clashes that ignited with Israeli troops in Shujaiya.
The ambassador also pointed out that the Israeli decision to confiscate lands in the historic area of Tal al-Rumeida in al-Khalil, or Hebron, proved that Israel is not committed to halting its settlement plans, or even give the stalled peace process a nudge.
International efforts must be exerted in order to put an end for these practices and not to deal with Israel as a "state above the law," Subeeh concluded.
