Mitchell meets Netanyahu, hands him Obama''s visiting invitation

RAMALLAH, March 21 (Saba) -- US special Envoy for the Mideast George Mitchell met here Sunday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, handing an invitation from US President Barack Obama who invited the Israeli official to visit Washington, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

According to Haartz newspaper's website, discussions between Mitchell and Netanyahu had focused on the indirect talks between Israelis and the Palestinians with both sides calling for such talks to begin.

Mitchell, on his part, affirmed that Israeli-US relations were strong and both sides were eager to develop them on all possible spheres.

Mitchell will be meeting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Jordan tomorrow.
