Yemen in talks with ILO on girls' education sector support

SANA'A, March 21 (Saba)- Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training Ibrahim Omar Hajri held Sunday talks with Senior Gender Advisor in Regional Office of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Beirut Simel Esim on the possibility to support girls' education sector .

The talks dealt with components of the girls' sector strategy including new specialties appropriate for girls, curriculum development, teacher training and qualifying graduates for the labor market as well as supporting Arabic.

Hajri reviewed with the international adviser implementation mechanisms of media awareness campaigns to encourage the involvement of girls in vocational education to participate in the labor market and the fight against poverty and unemployment.

During the meeting, Media Expert Carol Mansour presented explanation of media messages that will be broadcast through various media which includes a documentary film, the distribution of posters on raising awareness of girls' education.

The minister affirmed the importance of media in educating the various segments of society on the needs for education and providing training for girls to participate in the labor market and to correct misconceptions in this regard.
