Two U.S. soldiers die in Iraq
[14/March/2010]

BAGHDAD, March 14 (Saba) -- The U.S. military said on Sunday that two of its soldiers have died in Iraq's eastern Diyala and northern Nineveh provinces separately, according to Xinhua.

A soldier was killed and two others wounded in an "indirect fire attack" on their base in Diyala province on Saturday, a military statement said without giving further details.

"The wounded were evacuated to a nearby military medical facility and are in a stable condition," it said.

The indirect fire usually refers to mortar or rocket attacks in the terminology of U.S. military statements.

In a separate incident, another soldier died of non-combat related cause in the northern province of Nineveh, the military said in another statement.

The latest deaths brought the death toll of U.S. soldiers in Iraq to some 4,384 since the war broke out in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
