South Korea Warns Travelers to Russia
[12/March/2010]

Seoul, March 12 (Saba) - The South Korean government said Korean travelers and residents in Russia should be cautions to ensure their safety, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).

Radio South Korea said today the South Korean issued this warning after attacks against South Korean students in which one Korean student was killed.

A South Korean exchange student died in Russia last month after being attacked by a group of youths.

The unnamed student was attacked while he was walking down the street with a female companion, also South Korean, in the Siberian city of Barnaul.

South Koreans residing in Russia have criticized the Russian government for its failure to take enough measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks.

South Koreans working in the tourism industry have expressed concern over the decreasing number of Korean travelers to Russia due to the recent racist attacks.
