WTO's delegation to visit Yemen soon
[11/March/2010]
SANA'A, March 11 (Saba) - A delegation from the World Trade Organization (WTO) is to start on Monday an official visit to Yemen lasting three days, the state-run 26sep.net has reported.

Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya al-Mutawakil told the 26sep.net that the visit comes on the top of what has been achieved during the 7th meeting of the Working Group in Geneva and what has been agreed to enhance the communication between Yemen and the organization.

The visit reflects the attention of the WTO and its members to push forward Yemen accession, which was confirmed repeatedly by the WTO's Director-General that Yemen has become close to the membership, and reflects the Yemeni government's interest to accelerate steps for joining and complete all requirements for that.

For his part, Head of the liaison and coordination office with the WTO Hamoud al-Najjar said that the international delegation would meet senior officials in the government to brief them on the recent developments of Yemen bilateral and multilateral negotiations.

Al-Najjar pointed out that the meetings would discuss the legislative plans under which Yemen will complete the necessary legislations to harmonize its laws with the WTO conventions and to implement some agreements of the organization.
