YSMO, GCCSO discuss bilateral cooperation
[08/February/2010]

SANA'A, Feb.08 (Saba) - Director General of Yemen Standardization, Metrology & Quality Control Organization (YSMO) Ahmed al-Bashah met on Monday with Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council Standardization Organization (GCCSO) Anwar al-Abdullah, currently visiting Yemen.

The two officials discussed the cooperation relations between the two organizations after the formal accession of Yemen to the GCCSO earlier this year and the joint activities to be carried out, including rehabilitation of carders and technical aspects relating to the standardization field.

Al-Bashah pointed out that Yemen accession to the Gulf organization will reinforce the joint cooperation between the two organizations in the different areas so as to facilitate the commercial exchange between Yemen and the GCC countries.

He reviewed the steps made by the YSMO to develop and modernize the infrastructure of standardization and metrology, noting its efforts in fighting against the commercial fraud and to ensure the safety of the products and their compliance with the approved specification and standards.

For his part, al-Abdullah expressed his happiness for Yemen accession to the GCCSO, indicating that will contribute to encourage the national industries through opening new markets for the Gulf products in Yemen and also for Yemeni products in the Gulf markets.

He affirmed the importance of Yemen accession to the GCCSO in this period to succeed projects concerning the two sides, pointing to the positive interaction of the Yemeni organization in the all projects put forward even before its accession.
