Motorbike would-be suicider caught in eastern Yemen
[30/January/2010]

HADRAMOUT, Jan. 30 (Saba) – Police in Hadramout in eastern Yemen captured on Saturday an al Qaeda terrorist with an explosive belt around his body and two bombs, a source at the Interior Ministry reported.

Saleh Abdulhabib al Shawish was arrested while riding a motorbike in the district of Khalaf, the source said, adding that the would-be suicider had planned to attack vital economic facilities.

The arrest comes amid intensified hunting of al Qaeda operatives across the republic after recent successful operations in which scores of suspected terrorists were killed and arrested in both the north and south.

An investigation is underway of al Shawish who may give information about other people involved in the terrorist attempt.
