BAGHDAD, Jan 24 (Saba) -- The Iraqi government called on the parliament Sunday to issue a legislation that criminalize whoever glorifies deeds and crimes of the defunct baathist regime of Saddam Hussein, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
Government spokesman Ali Dabbagh said the parliament should consider that glorifying the former baath regime a crime in order to protect the democratic regime and respect the feelings of Iraqis who were suppressed during the ex-regime.
This legislation, he added, would be a guarantee for those who contribute to the political process and have chosen to be with the new regime.
All those involved in the political process, he said, should distance themselves from Saddam Hussein and his baath regime.
