[02/January/2010]

ADEN, Jan. 02 (Saba) – Former presidential candidate Faisal Bin Shamlan has died at the age of 75 years old at his home in Yemen's business capital of Aden after a long illness.

He suffered from head tumor that left him for several months last year  at an Indian hospital before he came back to Aden two months ago.

After his return from India, he left for Britain where he underwent check-ups and came back to Aden ten days ago.

Faisal Bin Shamlan was chosen by the Joint Meeting Parties in Yemen, an opposition coalition, to run for president post against president Saleh in the 2006 presidential elections. He won 22 percent of the votes.
