ADEN, Nov. 21 (Saba) – Yemen and the International Organization for Migration discussed on Saturday in Yemen's business capital of Aden the project to enable the government and the civil society to face the challenges of mixed migration.

During the meeting that gathered Aden deputy governor Sultan al-Shuaibi and anti-smuggling expert at the IOM Yan Fellowman, the two sides also raised the topic of illegal migration of Horn of Africa people and associated problems including organized crime, specifically trading in human.

The meeting stressed the importance of the project which, according to the IOM expert, is aimed at boosting the Yemeni government capacity to protect the national security and migrants from exploitation.

The project also comes to help Yemen to face the challenges caused by the influx of African migrants into its territory and is mainly focused on boosting the border security, controlling illegal immigration and building up the capacity of the concerned bodies to help migrants facing difficulties.

Yemen receives African migrants in daily numbers, with the number of those who have already arrived in Yemen said to be more than 700.000 people, mainly from Somalia and Ethiopia.
