UN official values Yemen establishment of tourism crises unit
[20/November/2009]

SANA'A, Nov. 20 (Saba)- Head of Crises and Dangers Department at the World Tourism Organization (WTO) praised on Friday Yemen for setting up a unit for tourism crises management which is considered the first of its kind at the level of the region.

In a statement to Saba on the sidelines of his participation in the first regional workshop on management of tourism crises held in Sana'a over 3 days, the UN official said setting up such a unit in Yemen in coordination with the WTO is regarded a step ahead in the right path to confront crises which face tourism sector and affect its growth.

He noted the coordination done by the unit between the Ministry of Tourism and other concerned ministries at time of crises, pointing out to the importance to work to face terrorism as it targets tourism.

The official also talked about the importance of this unit, hoping it is established in the entire region and the Middle East countries as they are the most affected by terrorism.
