Yemen gets € 17.5 mn EU grant
[19/November/2009]

CAIRO, Nov. 19 (Saba) – Yemen and the International Development Association initially signed on Thursday a $ 26 million in an EU grant for the Social Development and Social Welfare Funds.

The grant would be directed for heavy-laborer projects that would create more jobs for Yemeni families across the republic.

It also directly supports about 41.000 families in 54 districts of 7 of Yemen's 21 provinces, particularly the rain-hit areas in the south and war-ravaged areas in the far north.

The grant was signed by deputy minister of Planning and International Cooperation Hasan Abdullah al-Shater and Afrah al-Ahmedi from the IDA.
