DUBAI, Nov. 16 (Saba) - Yemen Airways (Yemenia) and Airbus Company in Dubai, UEA signed on Monday a purchase Memo of Understanding of ten aircrafts of the A320 family with a cost of $ 700 million.

The Memo of Understanding was signed on the sidelines of Dubai Airshow 2009.

Area Manager of the Yemenia airline in Dubai and Northern Emirates Muneer Mohammad Jahwash said that the agreement comes within the preparations for the expansion of Yemenia to open new routes as well as to increase the number of flights to existing destinations.

Jahwash added that Yemenia is planning to open a new direct route to China, noting that a Yemeni delegation is in China currently to negotiate and to finalize the agreement.

Under the Memo, Yemenia Airways will get four aircrafts during the first quarter of 2011, two in 2012 and four in 2013, he said.

He also made clear that the meeting of European Union Commission on
Aviation Safety held in 11 November and confirmed the safety of Yemenia aircrafts according to the international safety and security standards.

The meeting results will be announced officially in the coming few days, Jahwash said.
