CBY Governor meets IMF official

SANA'A, Nov. 07 (Saba) - Governor of Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) Ahmed al-Samawi met here on Saturday with the Assistant Director of Middle East Department in International Monterey Fund (IMF) Alan Arthur, visiting Yemen currently to partake in the annual consultative meeting between Yemen and IMF.

During the meeting, Al-Samawi reviewed the latest banking developments though the global financial crisis, affirming that the CBY instructions that the banks' have applied assisted in smoothing the crisis' repercussions. He highlighted the banking reforms in organizational and legislation fields.

For his part, IMF official praised the latest development in the Yemen baking sector, affirming the readiness to provide the technical assistant to the reform efforts of banking sector in Yemen.
