SANA'A, Oct. 27 (Saba)- Minster of Trade and Industry Yahya al-Mutawakil has said that Yemen lacks a strategic food store and did not have means to achieve food security, indicating the government has a strategic security for securing food starting with the establishment of a government grain silos to help the government manage food security, al-motamar.net has reported.
This was mentioned in a meeting gathering the Minister and MPs, indicating that the government faced a problem while storing the wheat granted by the United Arab Emirates.
For this part, reporter of trade committee in the Parliament Abdul-Jalil Radman affirmed that the private sector did not establish investment projects in grain silos.
Chairman of GPC parliamentary bloc Sultan al-Barakani said that al-Mutawakil mistook when he said that Yemen Economic Corporation does not follow his ministry, adding that al-Mutawakil is regarded an official for trade activities in Yemen and assured the YECO is part of the economic sector of the government and its general budget.
