Yemen starts awareness campaign on H1N1 flu in schools
[30/September/2009]
SANA'A, Sep.30 (Saba) - A national awareness campaign on protection from H1N1 flu was launched Wednesday, Information Official in Ministry of Education Esmail Zaidan said.

Zaidan indicated that the campaign targets schools managers, preachers, parents councils, education and health officials in the different provinces in the country.

He pointed out that the campaign started with a training course for the directors of education and health offices across the country aiming at spreading knowledge about the diseases and how to prevent its spreading in schools.

The inclusive national campaign adopted awareness program and instructions guide prepared by Education and Health Ministries and there are about 60,000 copies of this guide to cover all schools in the cities and rural areas during the coming days, Zaidan added.

On another hand, Zaidan pointed out that there is Yemeni-Gulf cooperation and coordination in the protection programs from H1N1 virus including printing a guidebook prepared by the Gulf Health Office in this respect and distributing it in the Yemeni schools.

Some 217 affected swine flu cases were registered in the country so far, according to the Supreme National Committee to Encounter the International Pandemic of Swine Flu.
