SAYOAN, July 04 (Saba)-Fund of reconstructing affected regions in Hadramout and Mahrah governorates due to flooding would pay on Sunday a first payment of compensation to 317 cases in Qatan district of Hadramout at sum of YR 194 million, assistant deputy governor of Hadramout Fahd al-Ajam said during his meeting with the director of the fund Abdyl-Qader BaHaron.

Al-Ajam affirmed importance of pacing measures of presenting second payment to these affected cases in the district by coming week.

The director of the fund wished continuing cooperation of concerned bodies with the fund in affected districts to tackle impacts of flooding as soon as possible.

Last May, Yemen and United Arab Emirates signed a memo of understanding to build 1000 housing units for the flood-affected people in the two governorates.

The memo was signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi and Member of Board of Directors of Emirates Red Crescent Society Ali al-Nasseri at the Planning Ministry.

After signing the memo, al-Arhabi praised the UAE leadership's initiative to fund the housing unit construction in the eastern provinces of Hadramout and Mahrah that were hi by rainstorm last October 2008, indicating that the recent initiative comes within the frame of the rooted brotherly ties between Yemen and UAE.
