Saleh gets Aforki, Pope Consolation
[02/July/2009]
SANA'A, July 02 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh received Thursday further condolence cables over the deaths from the Yemenia jet crash into the Indian Ocean early Tuesday.

In the cables, Eritrean President Isias Afworki and Pope Benedict XVI expressed their sympathy and condolences to Saleh and all the Yemeni people for the victims.

On Tuesday morning, a Yemeni airliner crashed into the ocean off the Republic of Comoros with 153 people including the crew onboard.

Most of those aboard were French and Comorian people while the crew included six Yemeni members, an Indonesian, a Pilipino, two Moroccans and an Ethiopian.

Initial reports suggest bad weather was key reason for the crash.
