SCER, IFES discuss electoral, democratic cooperation

SANA'A, June 10 (Saba) - Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER) discussed here on Wednesday with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) future cooperation in the electoral and democratic fields.

SCER head Khalid al-Sharif and IFES Regional Director, Middle East and North Africa Zeinab Abdel-Karim discussed the possibilities of IFES support for SCER's plans and programs during the coming period.

The two sides discussed IFES support in areas of institutional building, training, rehabilitation and awareness-raising as well as promoting women's participation in the elections.

The results of the process of reviewing and amending the 2008 voters' lists, which resulted in discovering 160,000 cases of repeating and under legal age have been referred to the prosecution.

The SCER head valued all the technical and consulting support provided by IFES during all the previous electoral processes.

IFES Regional Director affirmed the caring of IFES to promote the electoral and democratic experience in Yemen.
