SCER takes part in election management symposium in Beirut

SANA'A, Dec. 02 (Saba) - The Supreme Commission for Election and Referendum (SCER) is to represent Yemen in symposium on the election management to be held in Beirut on December 4 – 5.

In response to an invitation from the International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES), a delegation from SCER presided by the chairman of Foreign Affaires Ja'afar Ba-Saleh headed on Tuesday for the Lebanese Capital, Beirut, to participate in the symposium.

Ba-Saleh told Saba that the symposium organized by IFES would address the election Legitimacy, the role of monitoring bodies in managing election and the international standards for enhancing transparency in addition to media controls.

He highlighted that the delegation would review the Yemeni election experience and its previous achievements in this regard.

On the sidelines of the symposium, Ba-Saleh will held bilateral talks with the concerned bodies to discuss aspects of cooperation.
