Yemen, UN discuss cooperation in combating drugs

SANA'A, Dec. 01 (Saba)- The Director of Combating Drugs Department at the interior ministry Khaled al-Radi discussed on Monday with the delegation of the UN regional office for Middle East and North Africa over cooperation between the two sides in combating drugs.

Al-Radi reviewed steps taken to hold a workshop organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and UNODC and UN Program of Combating AIDS in coordination with the department.

The three-day workshop would discuss papers on relations between drugs and HIV/AIDS.

Some 25 employees in the department would take part in the workshop.

Representative of UN office for Combating AIDS said that the program aims at creating ties with the concerned bodies in Yemen to spread awareness in the society about the production from the AIDS and ways of combating.

On the other hand, the delegation paid a visit to the authority of prisoners where the delegation listened to a detailed explanation over works in the authority and dealing with prisoners.

The delegation also visited al-Jomhoreey Hospital where they listened to the explanation about efforts of the hospital in offering health care for AIDS affected patients.
