Governance will be democratic as in office, President Saleh affirms
[25/November/2008]

SANA'A, Nov. 25 (Saba) - In an interview with the Kuwaiti Alsyasiah Newspaper, President Ali Abdullah Saleh affirmed the governance in Yemen will be democratic as he remains in office, the state-run 26sep.net has reported.

President Saleh said there will not be oppression during his term, affirming that he chooses the democratic rule for all Yemeni people, supporters and opponents.

In the interview which took place on the sidelines of the Alsaleh Mosque Inauguration, President Saleh said the process of development goes ahead as planned, adding we will continue to speak to those who differ with our policies in modern language.

We have to dismiss their senseless and outdated mottos, President Saleh said.

However, he warned of imported democracy that doesn't take into account nation characteristic, saying such acts usually lead to unrest.

Regarding the Yemeni-Gulf relations, President Saleh said the relations are distinguished, touching on the forthcoming economic summit in Kuwait which would be a very important event to address the current global financial crisis.

President Saleh said he will attend the event.

On the other hand, President Saleh said pirates in the area are ex-Somali officers, pointing to earlier Yemen's warnings to the US and the EU states about the matter.
