Regional meeting for fighting sea piracy acts to be held in Cairo

SANA'A, Nov. 13 (Saba) - Chaired by Yemen and Egypt, a regional meeting for Arab states verlooking the Red Sea will be held in the capital of Egypt, Cairo, on 20 November to discuss the Arab common issues related to the increasing acts of piracy in the Red Sea.

An informed source told 26 sep.net on Thursday that the meeting, which will be attended by a number of senior officials beside a number of Arab countries, aims at uniting the Red Sea's overlooking efforts to strengthen security of the regional and international navigation in the Red Sea as well as in the Horn of Africa.

This meeting comes within the necessity to develop mechanism of fighting the increasing acts of piracy to the Red Sea by the Somalis.

The source mentioned that there will be another meeting for foreign ministers of the states overlooking the Red Sea.

Yemen has called earlier the states overlooking the Red Sea to reinforce their efforts and coordinate to fight this phenomenon.
