Japan grants Yemen YR 785 for agricultural equipment

SANA'A, Oct. 12 (Saba) - Japanese government agreed Sunday on financing purchase of agricultural equipments at cost of YR 785 for supporting the government's efforts for agricultural developments.

The Japanese deputy ambassador Matahiro Yamaguchi announced that during his meeting with Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Mansur al-Hawshabi here on Sunday.

Al-Hawshabi lauded the Japanese assistance to support the country's efforts, especially in reinforcing agricultural sector to realize the food security.

The grant comes to support Yemen to improve its economic conditions, the Japanese diplomat said.

The meeting also dealt with some issues regarding the Japanese grant for 2008, after finalizing the requisite surveys for extending the grant conducted by a Japanese team which ended up with signing a detailed memorandum between both sides.

On the other hand, Agricultural Minister held a meeting with development international consultant Peter Liliz assigned by an investment company to conduct an investment strategy in Yemen in different fields, particularly agriculture.

The meeting highlighted the investment features and opportunities in the country in addition to the merits offered by the Yemeni Investment Law.
