Yemen heads over 55th meeting of WHO regional committee in Cairo

CAIRO, Oct. 11 (Saba)- Yemen's Minister of Public Health and Population Abdul-Karim Rasa was elected on Saturday to chair over 55th meeting for the regional committee for the World Health Organization WHO that is being held in Cairo.

Rase affirmed support of Yemen for the annual report of the regional director of the organization over efforts of the WHO to support the national programs in the region to improve health condition and combat diseases.

He pointed out to the current partnership between Yemen and the WHO which allowed Yemen to carry our national campaign of anti bilharzias, saying that the second phase of the campaign would be started by fourth quarter of this year.

He said that Yemen has got a financial support from the World Bank to enhance efforts of rooting out bilharzias for coming five years.

It is expected that the 55th meeting would discuss several topics over the report and other technical and financial reports in addition to budgets of the health programs in the region for period from 2010 to 2011.
