Health delegation heads to Egypt

SANA'A, Oct 08 (Saba) – A health delegation headed on Wednesday for Egypt's capital, Cairo, to take part in the 55th round of the Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) of the World Health Organization (WHO) to be held on 11-12 October.

The delegation is spearheaded by minister of Health and Public Population Abdul Karim Yahya Rasi.

Rasi said the round will address issues including medical and financial matters of the committee topped by the annual report of the regional director for 2007 and attached reports that highlight challenges and measures taken for them, gains, future approaches for all regional programs as well as contributions of the organization to improve health in the region countries.

Rasi said the round will also review the global and eastern Mediterranean medical program budgets and address issues of tackling malaria in the eastern Mediterranean countries and climate change and its impacts on human health.

Rasi said the round will furthermore discuss a several reports on poliomyelitis eradication, the Tobacco Free Initiative (TFI), progress in meeting the millennium targets, integrated measure for disease transmitters and enhancing nursing and obstetrics in the east Mediterranean region.
