Exhibition of rare manuscripts to be organized in Sana'a next week
[06 October 2008]

SANA'A, Oct 06 (Saba) – The Culture ministry represented by the manuscript sector and book houses will organize during 11-19 October at the Culture House in Sana'a the first exhibition of rare Yemeni manuscripts.

The exhibition comes within the ministry activity aimed at preserving manuscripts in the country.

The exhibition is coinciding with the celebrations of Yemen's national days of 26th September, 14th October and 30th November.

Sheikh Sam al-Ahmer, deputy minister of Culture for the manuscripts sector and book houses said more than 100 images of rare manuscripts and vellum manuscripts from the Manuscripts House library in Sana'a and the Ahqaf library in Tarim in Hadromout province would be displayed at the exhibition.

Under every image a brief on its history would be written.

Al-Ahmer said the exhibition would be as fundamental for future exhibitions that will include manuscripts from other libraries in the country.
