[05 October 2008]

SANA'A, Oct. 05 (Saba) - Yemen is to participate in the fourth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime to be held in Vienna, Austria, from 7 to 18 October.

Deputy Minister of Interior Saleh al-Zaw'ari, who will preside the Yemeni delegation to the conference, told the ministry's information center that fourth session would address issues of improving capacities of the UN Convention's parties to combat the organized crime, enhance the implementation of the international conventions and to get acquainted with procedures the parties adopt to carry out the convention.

Yemen's speech in the session will show the country's efforts in combating the organized crime, drugs and its role to counter marine piracy in addition to the Yemeni experience to fight against terrorism, he said.

Al-Zaw'ari added that, on the sideline of the conference, he would hold talks with the delegations' heads of the brotherly and friendly countries participating in the conference to exchange experiences in this regard.
