Yemen begins implementation of 5448 housing units in 9 governorates

SANA'A, Sep. 05 (Saba) - Ministry of Public Works and Roads has commenced the practical procedures to build 5448 housing units for the limited-income persons in some governorates at a cost of 25,462 billion.

These units will be implemented under the first stage of the project of al-Saleh President that aims to provide the limited-income persons with houses to live in.

The implementation has already begun in about 2648 housing units in governorates of Aden, Lahj, Hodeidah, Dalei and Hajjah, while 1000 units have been referred to the Supreme Tender Committee to take the requisite procedures.

The ministry is finalizing designs and conducting the necessary inspections to implement 1800 units in governorates of Hadramout, Abyan and Taiz.

Minister of Public Works and Roads Umar al-Kurshomi stated to Saba that the ministry has started campaign in the Gulf Cooperation Council's states to promote for some housing projects aiming at encouraging the private sector there to invest in this field.

The ministry intended to carry out 12,000 housing units in the coming three years, the minister said.
