Yemen to host regional center on combating piracy

SANA'A, Sep. 04 (Saba)- Yemen continues its efforts with the regional countries for limiting piracy against ships in regional waters in Aden Gulf and the Red Sea.

Minister of Transport Khaled al-Wazir told state-run 26 of September newspaper that Yemen would host regional center for combating piracy with participation of more than 20 countries in cooperation with International Maritime Organization (IMO).

He added that Sana'a would host regional meeting during the period October 23-30 for signing memo of understanding between countries of the region for activating cooperation and coordination between them for facing this phenomenon.

He affirmed that the government pays great concern for combating piracy since 2004 and that Yemen has participated in many regional meetings and workshops on this purpose and suggested signing memo of understanding between regional countries.
