Yemen reaffirms continuousness of humanitarian efforts to Somali refugees
[29/August/2008]

SHABWA, Aug. 29 (Saba) – Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Ali Muthanna Hassan pointed out on Friday that Yemen continues humanitarian efforts to provide aids to Somali refugees in the country.

Hassan said that his country's the Supreme National Commission for Refugees seeks to resolve any problems and difficulties which oppose the activities of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Yemen.

During a visit paid by Hassan, Shabwa province governor Ali al-Ahmadi and the resident representative of UNHCR Mrs. Claire Bourgois to a Somali refugee reception centre in Shabwa province, they were briefed by the center's officials on the humanitarian assistances and services provided by the centre for the new arrival of Somali refugees to Yemen.

They acquired the proceedings taken with non-Somali refugees in the province as well as residential and service installations in the center.

Al-Ahmadi and Hassan renewed Yemen's continued policy to provide all forms of accommodation and care for the Somali refugees coming to the country consistent with its humanitarian and international obligations and commitments in this regard.
