Newly appointed SCER members to be sworn in next Saturday

SANA'A, Aug 29 (Saba) – The newly appointed members of the Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum SCER are to be sworn in before president Ali Abdullah Saleh next Saturday.

After the oath ceremony, the commission will hold a meeting to name its chief and deputy chief.

The commission will start its duties ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections which would be held in April 2009.

The presidential decree No. 12 for the year 2008 was issued on August 26 on the formation of the Supreme Commission of Elections and Referendum of the following personnel:

1- Khaled Abdul-Wahab al-Sharif
2- Abdullah Muhsen al-Akwa'a
3- Dr. Ja'afer Saeed Ba-Salah
4- Dr. Mohammed Abdullah al-Sayani
5- Alawi Ali al-Mashhour
6- Abdu Mohammed al-Jundi
7- Mohammed al-Saqaf Abdul-Rahman Balghait
8- Saif Mohammed Saleh al-Sharabi
9- Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Dahan

Minister of Legal Affairs Rashad al-Rasas said the decision was issued on time, pointing out that the commission formation took into account population and party representation.
