IFAD support to Yemen discussed

SANA'A, Aug. 24 (Saba)- Minister of Finance Noman Al-Sohibi held talks on Sunday with the delegation of International Fund for Agricultural Development IFAD headed by the director of the Regional Program for Near East and North Africa Nadim Khoari over possibilities of increase the IFAD's support and changing some of its loans into gifts .

They also discussed activities of the fund in Yemen, especially in supporting efforts of the government to reduce poverty and food shortage.

Al-Sohibi highlighted efforts of the IFAD in supporting agriculture in Yemen, affirming importance of increase its support for the country.

For his part, the IFAD official expressed concern of the fund to extend its support to Yemen, saying that coming IFAD support would be centered on development and infrastructure to help the Yemeni government to realize comprehensive development.

He made it clear that his visit aims at evaluating activities of the fund in Yemen.

Meanwhile, the delegation held a meeting with the deputy minister of planning and international cooperation Abdullah al-Shatar over measures associated with the plan for the fund for supporting rural development projects in the country.
