President: Partisan media should be accurate, precise
[19 August 2008]

SANA'A, Aug. 19 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh affirmed on Tuesday the importance of awareness role of media mass as well as ministries of education and endowment.

He urged partisan media mass to be accurate and precise in dealing with information and not to negatively contribute to the national union, noting that all Yemenis should work in one direction for the sake of progress.

Saleh talked about that in the expanded media meeting which was organized by GPC's Culture And Information Sector with the participation of intellectuals from around the Republic.

"It is good to listen to your concerns and you listen to what we have to say as press and media play an important role in the national, Arab and international arena and it is so nice that these information sources be concerned on getting the right information and be creative," Saleh said.

He added that "political deals and blackmail are rejected and not acceptable, and everybody should commit to the constitution and law.

President highly valued role of youths in the community as it is they who represent the whole country, calling on them not to be slaves for any party.

"What happened in Saada indicates that there is still ignorance and backwardness and it is a wicked backward act," Saleh said, noting to the desperate attempts to drag the country back. He called media to spread awareness and enlighten people.
