Yemen, Japan discuss project of tuna growing

SANA'A, July 19 (Saba)- Minister of Fisheries Wealth Mohammed Shamlan discussed on Saturday on Saturday with the chairman of Japanese Sojaz Corporation for Investments in the Middle East and Africa over possibilities of setting up a tuna growing project in Yemen at sum of $ 20 million.

The chairman of the Japanese corporation said that the project contains five big boxes for growing tuna in the sea and boats to fish alive tunas to bring alive them into these boxes to fattening them as well as stores and freezing centers.

The project would offer more than 7,000 jobs.

Shamlan expressed readiness of the ministry to present all facilitates to bring this project into success, asking the investment unit in the ministry to offer all information to the corporation about suitable places of doing this project.

Meanwhile, Shamlan held a meeting with the secretary general of the Arab union for fishing products Mahmoud Radad.

They discussed project of setting up Arab Company for fishing marketing within efforts of achieving Arab food security.
