Yemen, US hold talks on limiting Small Arms, Light Weapons Dissemination

SANA'A, 04 July (Saba) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abu Baker al Qirbi met on Thursday with the  special envoy of the US Foreign Secretary for Limiting the spread of Small Arms, Light Weapons Lincoln Lee.

During the meeting, Lee indicated that  his visit to Yemen comes in the framework of a regional  tour aimed to coordinate and cooperate with member-states of the the Nairobi-based Regional Center for Small Arms.
Lee affirmed the US readiness to provide up-to-date technology to Yemen to follow-up these weapons and know their production Sources, provide support for the Yemeni coastguard authority and activate the security cooperation between the two countries.

Al Qirbi expressed Yemen's readiness to cooperate and coordinate with all countries of the region to guarantee these countries  are free from such weapons.

He pointed out that Yemen is making heavy efforts to  disarm public and that it closed many weapon shops.
