[26/June/2008]

HUDEIDA, June 26 (Saba)- Secretary General of Local Council here Hasan al-Haij discussed with the delegation of Organization of Islamic Capitals and Cities (OICC) measures and solutions for keeping Zabid Historical City within World Heritage List (WHL).

Al-Haij reviewed importance and status of the historical city, confirming country's keenness and of local authority in the governorate on taking care of the city and protecting its ancient beauty.

OICC's delegation head affirmed strong support for keeping Zabid in World Heritage List because it embodies Islamic and Arab culture saying "the city has contributed much in Arab civilization".
