WB to help shrink qat phenomenon in Yemen

SANAA, June 16 (Saba)- Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Mansour al-Hawshabi held Monday a meeting with a World Bank delegation headed by economic official of sustainable development project for Africa and Middle East Jean Philippe.

During their meeting, al-Hawshabi and Philippe talked on the WB's support to Yemen's effort to prepare a study on means of shrinking the plantation of Qat and providing a new policy help the government in dealing with this phenomenon during the coming period.

The two officials affirmed the importance of developing serious policies to shrink the qat phenomenon which spending huge quantities of water.
