Yemen plans comprehensive reform of education system with $274.5 mln

SANA'A, June 11 (Saba) - Yemen is carrying out a comprehensive reform of the education system within the framework of an investment program supported by the donor countries with $274.5 million, a government report has said.

The sum will be used as $ 108 to 280 million for the Education ministry, $ 86.587 million for the ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and $ 79.685 million for the ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training.

The aim of implementing education system reform projects is to achieve the goals of the third-five plan that seek to reduce the poverty rates and expanding the base of the educational institutions in addition to improving the quality of education through modernizing the curricula and the statistical and information system for the public education sector in urban and rural areas.

Furthermore, the goals of the third five plan include equipping the education institutions with all operational requirements, increasing the rates of joining the technical education and vocation training and its covering ratios to meet the aim of matching the education outcomes with covering ratios.
