Legal changes on local authority law to be done in Yemen, says Saleh
[17/May/2008]

SANA'A, May 17 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh said on Saturday that legal amendments would be made in the local authority law, including the appointment of secretaries general of local councils in all provinces and districts of Yemen.

President Saleh pointed that the appointed secretaries general of local councils would be representatives of the government in the provinces and districts of the country.

During his visit to Local Administration Ministry, President Saleh urged the government to prepare in the near future a strategy for local governance.

On the opposition parties boycott of the governors election, President Saleh said that the opposition has the right to boycott the elections in the framework of democracy.
