Mujawar, al-Utri highlights outcomes of 8th YSJC round
[11 May 2008]

SANA'A, May 11 (Saba) - Yemen's Prime Minister Ali Mujawar and his Syrian counterpart Muhammad Naji al-Utri highlighted outcomes of the 8th round of the Yemeni-Syrian Joint Committee (YSJC) that was concluded on Sunday.

In a press conference, Mujawar praised bilateral relations between Yemen and Syria under sponsorship of the two leaderships of both countries represented by President Ali Abdullah Saleh and Syrian President Bashar al-Asad.

He affirmed importance of the agreements that were signed between the two countries by the end of the meeting, which are in fields of energy, telecommunication, fisheries wealth, media, youths, social insurance, and industry.

Mujawar expressed concern of both sides to enhance role of the private sector to improve bilateral relation, saying that the two sides agreed on announcement of establishing Yemeni-Syrian businessmen council within coming three months.

For his part, the Syrian prime minister pointed out to the strong relationship between Yemen and Syria, wishing further progress for these relations.

Asked about position of Syrian and Yemen over the current developments in Lebanon, the two officials confirmed that the current developments in Lebanon are Lebanese internal affairs, pointing out to the position of Yemen and Syrian, which calls for dialogue among all Lebanese factions to avoid division of the Lebanese people.
