SANA'A, April 19 (Saba) –Two Archaeologists from the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) are set to arrive next week in Yemen to prepare a report on the historic city of Thala'a's features which may enable it to be inscribed on the World Heritage List.
They will also conduct another report on the Zabid's current condition to put pressure on the UNESCO World Heritage Center to retain this city on the list of the World Heritage Sites.
The visit comes in response to an invitation from Yemen's government to take advantage from the ISESCO experiences to qualify the city of Thala'a through preparing a report on its historical features and reconsidering a decision to cancel Zabeed from the list of the World Heritage Sites.
Minister of Culture Mohammed Abu Bakr al-Muflahi said the ISESCO will deliver its opinion on the two Yemeni cities of Thala'a and Zabeed at the 2009 ISESCO meeting to be held in Canada as well as contacting the Culture ministers of the Muslim countries in an attempt to produce a unifying position over the two cities.
