Hamas, Fatah confirm importance of Arab support to Sana'a Declaration
[24 March 2008] SANA'A, March 24 (Saba) - Head of Fatah Block in Palestinian Legislation Council Azzam al-Ahmad and deputy head of Hamas Political Bureau Musa Abu Marzouq confirmed the importance of reinforcing Sana'a Declaration the two movements signed here yesterday.

Representing Hamas and Fatah in Sana'a Declaration, the two officials valued Yemeni political leadership's efforts for healing the Palestinian dispute, calling not to stop these efforts at the declaration moment, which they considered as historical due to its positive effects in unifying the two movements' positions via inclusive dialogue.

"Yemeni leadership, represented by President Ali Abdullah Saleh, still has to seek Arab support, through Arab summit, to the agreement and the Yemeni initiative," said al-Ahmad.

Meanwhile, Abu Marzouq expressed hope that this first step would be followed by another greater and much clear one for attracting as more as possible of Arab sponsorship to the initiative.

The statements of the two Palestinian officials took place during their departure from Sana'a on Monday.
