[24 March 2008] SANA'A, March 24 (Saba) - Prime Minister Ali Mujawar affirmed on Monday intent of government to root out sources of corruption.

In his speech in the 17th annual meeting for the Central Organization for Control and Auditing COCA, Mujawar said that the role of the COCA is not only to protect public funds and combat corruption, but also contribute to develop financial and administrative contributions in monitoring units.

"The government understands importance of this role in supporting economic, financial and administrative reforms directly and indirectly to better environment of investment and support the development, economic and social plans of the nation," he said.

Mujawar called for coordinate efforts between the COCA and the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption (SNACC) to fight corruption.

The COCA referred 373 cases associated with public funds to justice, the COCA chairman Abdullah al-Sanafi said.

He pointed out that the report of the organization registered financial and administrative breaches in some governmental units across the country and determined reasons and presented solutions as well.

In the three-day meeting, the participants will discuss reports and papers on level of implementation for the recommendations of the 16th meeting and the 2007 COCA plan as well as indications of the organization's plan.
